Grilling Thunder

After purchasing a grill in February it was quickly decided not to use it. Opening the valve on the tank creating the strong smell of explosion and my natural ability to procrastinate resulted in the grill sitting unused until Saturday night. Turned out it was just a bad tank. An exchanged tank later and we’re dining on chicken and dogs.

Never thought I’d care for a gas grill. The taste created by charcoal always seemed worth the trouble. It ain’t. We’ve grilled every night since.

After our return from the ever growing in popularity Friday the 13th campe (the kids today are spelling it with an “e”) I spent the bulk of my time on Last Vamp. Once again Whitley has been amazing. I think I’d marry him if he were taller. But how rare is it to reach a stumbling block and be able to call up the author of the novel and without wasting a lot of time have a fix within five or ten minutes? Well, it’s pretty rare. I wrote throughout the weekend to the point of sending Mel off to have Dinner with the Loreys while I stayed here to type.
I finished Night One of Last Vamp on Monday…a week behind my internal schedule. The plan was to give it a quick polish and shoot it out on Tuesday. But there was an explosion of stupidity on the Demonik project and I had to jump over to it until late yesterday afternoon. It’s a long story and probably very interesting but I should cool down before making public comment.
I called Mark Haslett yesterday because I couldn’t remember the word “misdirection”. It’s actually not uncommon for me to call Mark once or twice a project and simply start the call by describing the word I’m trying to think of. If there is a talent for this sort of thing then Mark has it. He gives me the word and I’m back to work. However he did mention MGM has contacted his agent at CAA and they now have interest in his “Last House on the Left” script. I thought this was great news. He may have to do some song and dance to convince them to let him direct but we all gotta song and dance at some point.
I spoke with Patrick yesterday about our Narcosis pitch to Universal. The exec we pitched passed. This wasn’t unexpected. It was clear during the meeting that he had a plastic spoon for a brain.
The gooder news is that Thunder went out yesterday. The list of recipients mostly consisted of producers. Rob spoke to both Michael Bay and Wes Craven. Nicole was talking with Clive Barker. And others on the list consisted of Screen Gems/Sony, Jim Wedaa, Gold Circle, Lions Gate, Alex Aja, Michael Medavoy and more. As with every spec, I expect to sell it for a million. Maybe two million this time since Dean and I are sharing the loot.
The entire list should have received the script last night. The next 48 hours should be fun.
Got an email from Brooks yesterday. He had stumbled across the site and wanted to show off his Jason Voorhees guitar.

I thought it was so cool I asked him if I could show it off too. Brooks has been on a mission to get as many F13 cast and crew sigs on his F 13 Guitar as possible.
So today it’s back to Last Vamp. I look forward to climbing inside it and not resurfacing until I’m done…or not….
Patrick just called and asked if I’d join him for the Exorcist premiere tonight. I don’t really like premieres. I don’t think he does either but he’s up for a job with them and should probably make an appearance. So I’ll go along for moral support. I’ll climb inside Last Vamp tomorrow.

Got a few pics from lil’ brother’s wedding. From left to right you have the splendidly good looking me, brother Aarek, Kendra the bride, our father, lovingly known as Gomer, Rikki the groom, Arinne the little sister and her hubby, Preacher man Tim.
Until next time…
