Sega Japan

The meeting last Friday got pushed until today so all the rush work turned out to be for nothing…eh, it was fun though. Lori tells me that Sega loved the project and the changes we’d made but had another project they’ve already started development on and will finish it before jumping into Demonik. Sounds like a pass to me but Lori sounded excited so I said nothing.

Neil Edelstein

Had a general meeting with Neil Edelstein this morning and his partner who’s name slips my mind. They produced “The Ring”. Pretty cool guys although I heard from a little bird that after they took the project to Dreamworks they were pretty much replaced. Anyway, we may bounce ideas back and forth and see if something fits.
I sent Lori an updated outline on Demonik and the plan was to get it to a translator asap then Fed Ex it to Japan.

Demonik part II

Lori just called. I sent her an outline last night of my take on Demonik. They were blown away. But I gotta say, it pretty much wrote itself. It’s so much fun when it all comes together. Anyway, they are pulling together some quick notes and asked that I address them for their meeting in Japan Friday. Told her I’d be happy to make another pass. It was fun so what harm is there?

Demonik

Lori Tilkin called this morning and it seems they are under a crunch. They have a deal with Sega and a meeting this weekend. Sega brought an IP (Intellectual Property) to them that had story problems. I guess it was something of a test. They gave me what they had, which wasn’t much and asked me to develop a story. On the drive home the juices were flowing. Man, this is what I love about what I do. I have a story in my head. I expect I’ll pull an all-nighter.

Wimmer’s party

Met again this week with Dean to outline Thunder. It’s coming along great. What a fun story this will be. A killer who travels through thunder storms.
I called the Guild on Friday, another quarter has come and gone and no residual money on Jason X. Guild told me to wait and if I havent’ seen a check after this next quarter then I should call them. Yeah, that’s what they said last time.
Last night Kurt Wimmer had a big party at his place. Fun. Turned out Patrick did some work with Kurt on one of his films so Patrick and Laura were there. We spent the night goofing and drinking. Well, Mel, Laura and myself did all the drinking. Patrick don’t drink. While there I ran into a fella who’s now working for Silver pictures but we had met back when he was with Platinum studios. Mark Haslett and I had gone in with our “Western Front” script. Cool guy. He was a grunt when we first met but he’s clearly moved up in the world. Course, I can’t remember his name.
Also saw Lauren from Blue Star there. Seems we run into her all the time. We saw her at the Magic Castle back during my and Dean’s birthday party.
Kurt’s place is amazing. His house isn’t a mansion but the set up is unbeatable. The entire back yard is stacked on a hill with heat lamps and sound system and hot tub. It’s beautiful, hidden in backwoods Tarzana.
