So, here’s the deal on movie residual money for a writer. Jason X was my first credited feature. I got sole credit. Box office is irrelevant (unless you negotiated a backend into your deal which few writers are able to do). So regardless if the flick made one million or 200 million, as the writer you’ll not see a dime of box office money. But we do see very small pieces of the pie when it comes to DVD, video, Pay-Per-View, Network and Cable. This money shows up quarterly.
However, at this point I haven’t seen any residual money on Jason X. If New Line turned in their profits last quarter then they would have had 60 days from March 31st to pay that money to the guild. That deadline’s up at the end of this month. It’ll take the guild a couple of weeks to turn the money around and get a check out to me.

Patrick and I met at Starbucks to talk more Hills. I think we have a tight story now. I’ll put some of it on paper and we’ll pitch Wes as soon as the meeting is set.
Wes is about to start filming Cursed. A reteaming of he and Kevin Williamson. Werewolf flick.
Getting ready to leave for another of Maggie’s comedy shows.
Ace in the Hole…ending
Well I just got back from pitching my take of Ace to Intermedia. Ugh, that didn’t go so well. I had a very tight pitch and he wanted a beat by beat outline of the whole movie. I told him I didn’t have that yet but he wanted what I had. Then he argued every point. I think I can safely call this one is a pass without waiting on Nicole’s phone call.
Hounds first draft
I sent my first draft of the Hounds of Hell to Dean just now. He’ll read, we’ll discuss and he’ll start his pass. It’s alot of fun.
Meeting them tomorrow night at the Korean joint.
Hills Have Eyes
I’d told Lazar that I really wasn’t interested in pursuing Hills but after talking to Patrick we thought it might be fun to go after as a team. We’ve been bouncing ideas and we’ve come up with some pretty fun stuff.
