My meeting with Outlaw to discuss Ace in the Hole went very well. They’re setting a follow up meeting to pitch the studio my take.
Meeting Dean and Elizabeth tonight and then Mel and I are driving out to visit Patrick and Laura tomorrow night.
Last night was fun. Met Shuman and Lauren but the William didn’t show. William Sherak, he’s the other guy who’s name I can never remember. He’s in the middle of buying a house. We had a blast. The bar was great. I think Miles Copeland, manager of the Police, owns the joint because he was there and there were Police relics hanging all over the walls.
They were very cool about my being replaced on Totem. Of course, they were totally against it. I sort of believe Jason though because the new writer is costing far more than I did. He just sold a big spec and has Tom Cruise attached and the giant Pirates movie coming out soon was his work. He’s got a huge price tag. But maybe that means he’s good. If you gotta be rewritten it’s better to be rewritten by the best.
I like Jason and Lauren. We had a pretty good time.
I’m meeting Jason Shuman, Lauren and the other guy at a bar in Beverly Hills tonight. I gotta say they have been very supportive of the Scarecrow script.
I’m not sure what they want but it’s the best script I’ve ever read to consider for rewrite. Not sure it even needs one. Great twists and turns. Only thing I would suggest is to actually give it a bigger twist ending…and I have a great one in mind. I’m meeting the producers this morning. Jennifer Eatz and Scott Straus of Outlaw Productions.
Yesterday Derek officially called to inform me that they were hiring another writer on Scarecrow.
Both Dean, Hensleigh and Nicole tell me this is good news. Means they have faith enough to keep spending money and that they liked me enough to call. Nicole wants me to finish “Past Tense”. Derek read an early draft and liked it. She wants to sell it there.
I’m working steady on Riddle now. Plan is to get a first act to Hensleigh within the week. I still have three checks coming on the project. Just want to get it out of the way. Fear is, it will be a headache since neither Jonathan nor I know what happens after the first act.
Something is array inside my body. A man should not fart as much as I do.
