Maggie is Jim Vallely’s wife. She’s a beautiful blond trying to make it as an acress. Jim invited Mel and I to her comedy show tonight. She was certainly the best there. She’s hasn’t done any work of mention but I think Dean said that CAA is rep’ing her. Not too shabby.
She and Mel have a lot in common since they used to be in the same line of work back in the day. Jimmy also drinks the Chopin but he likes a splash of pinnapple juice. Sissy. Jimmy and Maggie seem to be very good people.

Nicole called. She’d talked to Derek Dauchy at Revolution. He said Totem needed a lot of work. It does? That’s the freaking first I’ve heard of it. Everyone has been praising it. Nicole felt he was holding something back. I told her it sounded like Garner didn’t like it and Derek is playing it safe.
I called Patrick. Patrick met with Garner and said Garner’s notes were all over the place. Patrick said the bottom line was that Revolution was embarrassed by Darkness Falls and the idea of a scarecrow flick terrified them even more. He said they were probably going to hire another writer.
He wasn’t certain but he’d heard mention of it. He was very kind. Very gracious and I believed his sincerity and was thankful he had shot me straight. He said working with me was a pleasure and he would work with me again any day of the week, but alas, it’s not up to him.
But rewrites are a part of the business. I rewrite and I get rewritten. That’s the way it works. Bummer.

Nicole called and left email. I have an Ace conference call being set up. 20-30 minutes to get more details. She’s also talked to Derek about Scarecrow. I’m waiting on her call.
Jim Vallely invited us to see his wife Maggie’s play tonight. Jimmy writes on My Wife and Kids with Dean.

Darkness Falls opened at 12 million. That means Patrick Lussier and Lou Arkoff did their jobs. That should translate to high confidence for Scarecrow/Totem. Word is Garner has read the script and wants it to be more like “The Shining”. That could be a good thing or a bad thing. No one knows exactly what that means. Patrick wants a sit down with Garner. Just the two of them.
Read “Ace in the Hole” today. It’s a great script. A con artist flick from Outlaw productions and Intermedia.
Also have a time travel/serial killer script to read with Sam Jackson attached to star. Will read later today.
Need to get back on “Riddle Me This”. Need to rework the ending of “Past Tense”. Need to finish the outline and start writing “Thunder” with Dean. We came up with the most amazing outline while throwing back Chopin a couple weekends ago.

Sent a new draft to Hensleigh. You know, for a big time Hollywood writer…perhaps the most successful action writer in the business…I’ve never had a problem getting him to answer the phone or return my calls.
