They love me they really love me

Nicole called. Michelle and Kent loved it. Michelle told Nicole that they are still taking pitches but that once Toby (New Head of New Line) returned next Friday they were taking the three top ideas to him. Michelle couldn’t promise that I would be one of them, but Nicole gathered from her excitement that it was a good possibility.

Mask II pitch

I think I did a good job with the pitch. I met with Michelle and Kent Alterman. We chatted a bit about my being from Kentucky (Kent’s originally from KY) as well as Jason X. Then I said, “You guys mind if I walk around and rant some?” They didn’t so I did.
The pitch lasted about 10 minutes. They stopped me several times times to ask questions and seemed very excited. I left the meeting feeling pretty good.

Die Fucker

I spent the day working on the Mask II pitch.
Spent the last hour playing Quake II with Dean. We literally just finished. And I just got an email from him. It simply states, “Die Fucker”.
My guess is it will be a few days before we chat again.

Pitching New Line

Nicole called last night to tell me about New Line taking pitches for the Mask II. She told me there’s no Jim Carey this time and that they want a story that will allow an ensemble cast — with the mask jumping from person to person. She asked me to call Michelle Weis, the executive at New Line in charge of the project. Melanie and I then ran out and bought the Mask on DVD to refresh myself to the world.
Michelle and I chatted this morning and she mentioned wanting animals to wear the mask this time as Carey’s dog did in the first one. We have a tentative meeting set for 10 am Friday morning.

The Writer’s Tone

Dean and Mark both had some interesting notes. Some I used some I didn’t. It has become very appearant that Dean and I, although very similar in many ways, are very different with writing. Dean is clean and simple. I’m complex. The good thing is that I go so far over the top that his pulling me back some makes for a good balance. Dean and I should write something together. Anyway, “Riddle Me This” messenger’d over to my agent on Thursday. No word yet.
