Worlds of Warcraft

Probably my favorite of the E3 Exhibits. Melanie played City of Villains and destroyed the opposing team without any help from her teammates (I assumed because her teammates hadn’t played City of Heroes and had no clue what they were doing). In my opinion EverQuest II looked less than impressive. There’s a new Thief coming and an new Vampire Masquarade. Half Life II looked sweet as always but you could only see Doom III on a console so it wasn’t impressive. The gaming industry is clearly a giant. We had a blast.
I met Bergantino early and introduced him to the Tiger Hill players. Perhaps they can find some work together. Then Tiger and I hit Majesco where we pitched Sony the Demonik game. Majesco is our publisher so I wasn’t sure why we were pitching Sony at first, then it was explained that it had something to do with the Playstation.
The meeting went just fine. It wasn’t my best pitch of the little Demonik. There was a tornado of sound whirring in the background and the female Brit we were pitching seemed disinterested the moment we got there. She seemed slightly uptight. It would have been nice to take a moment for introductions…I wasn’t even sure who the power was. It’s always good to know the power. That’s who you pitch. Pitching is a performance. The whole meeting was a little wonky.
I had another meeting back at the E3 this morning but since it was a general meeting I was allowed escape. Would have been fun to return but I’m gonna racquetball Dean instead. Legs are stiff. He may have the advantage again. And I’d moved my training session because of the meeting so it’s tonight instead.
Three days of weights, four days cardio and toss in three or four racqetballs. I’m not only getting back in shape…I’m getting huge.

Legs are stiff

Brian, the trainer, kicked my butt this morning. Good news for Dean because my racquetball game was shoddy.
Tomorrow’s E3. Mel and I will leave early and stay the day. My meeting isn’t until 4:30 so we should have plenty of time to see everything. Or most of it anyway. We’re driving seperate in case she hates it. I don’t think she realizes the madhouse it’s going to be. Tomorrow night I’ll have to swing by ICM to drop off our passes for the next guy.
Olga finished the site today. She’s done an amazing job. I love it. She’s brilliant. Mel cut her last check and I should take the site live probably after our return from the ranch.
Think I’ll eat some sushi and play some City of Heroes.

Dean Reisner 1918 – 2002

Written by Dean Riesner
Forward by Todd Farmer
Following are the words of “Dinky” Dean Reisner. He was born in 1918 (as he’ll mention in a moment) and he passed away in his sleep at his house in Encino on August 18 of 2002. Dean was a hero. He wrote real movies. “Dirty Harry”, “High Plains Drifter” and as a writer he took me under his wing. He sent me the following which he’d banged out on his old Royal typewriter — where he’d written all of his old flicks — and wanted my opinion because he was thinking about either writing a novel or script of his life. I thought his story was fascinating and maybe you will too.

How to Make Stuff Blow Up Real Good

Think back to High School. Remember that big kid who hung out in the smoking area? The one who loved shop class a little too much? He lurked around with that blindingly white coin slot always visible from the rear? Did you know he also liked to blow things up? Growing up on his block was not unlike growing up near Sid, that nasty little kid from Toy Story. Well, that was high school. Sid’s all grown up now and he’s working in Hollywood in the area of pyrotechnic effects-basically he makes stuff blow up real good.
The writer has a lot in common with Sid. We both make stuff blow up. Sid is very good at his job. It’s a dangerous job. If Sid screws up, people get hurt. If the writer screws up, people just get bored.

E3

Looks like I have a couple of pitches while at E3. One to Sony and I’m unclear about the other. One is Thursday and one is Friday. Haven’t heard the wheres and whens. ICM’s getting passes for Mel and I on Thursday and Tiger’s getting me one to return on Friday. Should be fun.
I sent Navid a ten or so page Hostel outline. From his reply email he seemed pretty happy. We’ll see how he feels after he reads it. It’s about a bunch of teen party seekers living it up in Europe. Sex and boobs and fun until they cross one of the locals and blood and gore starts pouring. Good family entertainment. I had fun with it so that means you can never tell if anyone else will like it.
Mel and I are heading to a Ranch next Monday and Tuesday night to celebrate our anniversary. We went there a few years back and had a blast. Expecting a week of riding horses and kinky sex.
