Goldstein for drinks

Met Michael Goldstein for drinks today. I like Mike. I think I mentioned that he’s the guy who introduced me to my agent. We’d love to work on something together but the timing has always been off.

Interesting day

Well, I guess Revolution liked it. They’ve hired a director. Patrick Lussier. He directed “Dracula 2000” for Dimension and has just wrapped two sequels that will go Direct to Video with Jason Scott Lee staring. Patrick and his producing partner, Lou Artkoff (I may have that last name wrong) were pulled in on Rev’s “Darkness Falls” to do rewrites and reshoots. They, of course, got no recognition so Revolution is giving them Scarecrow.
Patrick has clearly done some work because he had pages and pages of notes. Not bad notes but they seem to want to take a thriller and turn it more into a horror. Not a problem. I obviously liked what I’d come up with. I liked presenting the audience with a horror movie only to reveal at the end that it was all in the lead’s head. It turns out the movie wasn’t a horror at all but a thriller about a man going insane.
Feels like it’s going to be something a bit different now. Not that I didn’t like the notes. I thought they were fine…just different. Not better, not worse. Would be nice to one day make the movie I want to make.

Back in town

It was a sweet little country wedding. My sis looked pretty as ever. She and her twin brother along with, Rikki, the middle child, have had it rough since my mother’s death but it was good to see them all. Arinne, my sis, married a preacher man. Of course, there was plenty of drama but hey, that’s Kentucky. After the wedding, Mel and I drove the rental back to Nashville where we spent a few days with her mother and step father.

It was a nice break but now it’s time to get back to work.
I leave for Revolution in an hour to get my notes for the rewrite. I’ve heard nothing…good or bad. Don’t know if Garner loved it or hated it. Guess I’ll find out.

My sister weds

Tomorrow Mel and I are flying to Nashville. My sister is getting married. We’ll arrive for the rehersal then hit Nashville for a couple of days to visit Mel’s folks. It’s been several years since either of us went back. Should be interesting.

TiVo

Yes, I think I’m gonna be loving the TiVo. We ended a long and fullfilling relationship with our cable company today because our new lover is Direct TV. So far I have no complaints.
