Went to Disney with the Loreys this weekend. I love the Rich Rat. Lines were short. It was fun.

Messenger’d Scarecrow to the producers today. Jason Shuman, Lauren and the other guy. They were very excited to get it so early.
Overall, I like them. They have a horror coming out soon and a lot seems to be riding on its success. It’s called the Tooth Fairy or was. I think now it’s called Darkness…Falls. I think it is Falls. Shuman and the other guy are partners and Lauren is their creative exec. Shame that I can never remember the other dude’s name. His pop is one of the big four at Revolution.
Sending my draft of Past Tense to Nicole tomorrow. Will be nice to follow this latest gig up with a spec.

Got my first Scarecrow check today. Ugh, not nearly as much as I was expecting. Once Uncle Sam takes his 50 percent then 10 to my agent, 5 to my lawyer and I forget how much to the guild…not much left for little ol’ me.
Tomorrow I have a phone pitch with Louis Speigler. He wants to chat about Halloween 8.

Dean read Scarecrow and thought it was my best work yet. He had some great notes which I have already addressed. It’s still way too early to hand it off to the producers or stuido so I’ll sit on it for a week and give it a fresh read.
Worked on Mankind today…that’s the little time travel flick I’m writing as a spec. Dean suggested changing the name to Past Tense. I like that.
Going out with Jake and Natalie tonight.

I’ve finished my first draft. It’s way too early to send it to the studio but I may slip it to the producers early. That’s always risky but it’s better to have them on my side. They will, of course, have notes and I’ll have to address them but this is how it goes. Hopefully I’ll like and agree with their notes.
Gonna send it to Dean to read tonight, see what he thinks.
